Brian Wolf’s, BuiltBehindBars.com Launches

Every once in a very long while, we meet or hear about a person who was able to pick themselves up from the deepest bottoms that life can offer. It is even rarer when one of those people drives his or herself to achieve their dreams.  We can defiantly say that Brian Wolf is one of those people. If you’re looking for a real personal trainer, somebody with the determination, experience and down to earth honesty to tell you straight up what you need to do to see results, do not look any further. Brian Wolf’s BuiltBehindBars.com tells us of his unique life changing experiences which drove him to the success he is today.

Brian can update his website through a private backend page which allows for mass news-letter blasting, testimonial entries, modifications, and a sophisticated gallery management interface which allows for creating albums, multiple picture uploading, caption editing, and deletion. To see more features, check out the Built Behind Bars website shown on our showcase page.

Brian will be adding new content and modifying his website throughout the month so keep checking back for updates, or just sign up to the Built Behind Bars newsletter!  We wish Brian the best of luck and maybe one day one of us will have enough guts to take him up on one of his hardcore workout programs!

Labgfx launches Seth Russell’s, 3DApathy.com

Seth Russell is a seasoned 3D Character Artist currently living in Orlando, Florida. He came to Labgfx with a mission. Create for him a website that will effectively showcase his art. This website doesn’t focus on the typical things we would create for a normal website. We’ve left out the traditional navigational menu, contact forms, tacky ‘about me’ pages and any design elements around the site itself that could distract you from his artwork.

Essentially, we created a slim, single page website that can showcase his latest artwork in an elongated canvas type atmosphere. Seth can upload new art through a simple administrative interface. This allows him to add the main image and 3 complimentary left, middle and right images. Along with having the ability to add a descriptive text for title and software used. He can also show or hide each individual art piece once the images have been uploaded.

We appreciate the opportunity to create 3DApathy.com and wish Seth the best in all future endeavors! Don’t forget to check out our work page to view more detailed information about 3DApathy.

SPEffects.com goes live!

You might have been wondering what we’ve been up to from March until now, and well, you can see we’ve been pretty busy with 2 website releases within 2 days. Labgfx.com has just completed Surrealistic Producing Effects, LLC’s brand new website, SPEffects.com. This site design incorporates all of the eye candy goodies people love to see, in a very minimalistic approach of course.

Todd Palamar, of SPEffects.com provided Labgfx with great pre-rendered animations for his brand new flash banners on the home page. They advertise his 2 new technical books, Maya Cloth for Characters and Maya Feature Creatures: Second Edition.

The new site uses simple PayPal forms to get shopping done quickly. No overly complicated e-cart system was needed here. We also converted a forum on the old site into a blog for Todd on the redesigned site. There he can post news, tutorials or production updates for his all  CG movie, Human Food.

We’ll still be working with Todd for roughly another month to polish and fine-tune small details on the site. Since we are both technical and creative people, nothing ever seems good enough for us.

Check out more details on our Showcase page, which also includes a before and after screen shot. Thanks for choosing Labgfx Todd!

Labgfx completes ElegantSlideshows.com

We were approached by Jason Layton and Michael D’Andrea, both co-owners of Elegant Slideshows; a small business located in Long Island, New York. They create beautiful montages based on photos chosen by the customer. Combined with music this always ends up being a very emotional and unique gift.

Being able to order a slide show montage online seems rather complicated, but not with Elegant Slideshows slick new website developed by Labgfx.com. All a user needs to do is quickly register on the website, start uploading photos and press a button to request a quote for that event. Next either Jason or Michael contacts you directly to iron out any details, and presto! Your slide show montage gets shipped out right away.

Whether you are looking for a creative gift or trying to make a special moment more memorable, be confident that these guys at Elegant Slideshows will do their best. In fact, they personally guarantee it on their homepage.

Also, don’t forget to check out our showcase where we explain some of our technical challenges and solutions for their new website. Thanks guys!

Labgfx Charities, sponsorship for non-profits!

We’re very excited to say Labgfx is now proud corporate charity sponsor, helping raise money for The Providence Academy. Providence means “To Provide”. This Not for Profit school with two campuses in Orlando, they provide a very unusual program to students who do not fit within the box of public or private school. Their students come to them with a variety of diagnoses including High Functioning Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD and Learning Disabilities.

We are able to sponsor The Providence Academy through Jonathan Czarny and The One Lap of America (OLOA) motorsport event. Czarny and his co-driver Jonathan Miller will be driving cross-country to race track to race track all to raise money for The Providence Academy. The competition is based around getting the fastest time rather than wheel-to-wheel racing.

Best of luck guys, we’re looking forward to seeing photos of the event and will be checking your travel blog daily! Also, be sure to check out our new page called ‘Charities‘, dedicated to this great event.

1 surefire way to get noticed.

Write a web app, of course. In less than 30 non-consecutive hours Theo and I were able to conceptualize, design, develop and test JustDonateYourMoney.com or JDYM for short, one of our many brain children here at Labgfx.

What the heck is JDYM?

JustDonateYourMoney.com is a simple concept, in that it will help you generate new traffic to your website while improving page rank in a new, fun, and exciting way. You’re in control of where the Donation, or “tag” is placed on the home page by tweaking your donation amount. JDYM will also never randomize the location of the donations you paid for! This is so you won’t ever worry that the donation you paid for is at the bottom of the page.

To put a little spin on things, we decided to do something fun. In 2009 we will announce to the JDYM community what we did or will do with the donated money, hence the website name! Be sure to stick around.

The idea was based around what already exists out there in the web, following the rule “don’t re-invent the wheel, just realign it”, told by Anthony J. D’Angelo. Our core vision is as follows; take some concepts that had worked previously, develop new features, improve some of the ones we thought were problematic, put spin on the entire idea and create something entirely unique. This should be easy, right?

To say the least, we’re extremely excited about JDYM’s release and look forward to watching how it will compete with other websites that are similar. Special thanks to Carl, Jared and Tommy for helping us with the closed-beta testing over the weekend.

Feel free to go check it out. We utilize PayPal’s services to handle the purchasing aspect. If you don’t have a PayPal account don’t worry! You can go ahead and use your credit card through PayPal even if you don’t have an account. Oh and always remember, Just Donate!

Progression, sweet isn’t it?

“Take one thing at a time” is a hard mentality to follow when you wear many hats and are responsible for so much. Although as time progresses Labgfx is moving forward in a positive way.

So far we’ve accomplished a lot I think in such a short time. Let’s re-cap the last 2 months or so.

Create our business model and website design
Business card creation & distribution
Spreading the word to friends & family
Launching our site. (v1)
Completed our first paid project as Labgfx
Conducted a ton of SEO methods
Utilizing social marketing & blogging
Started a new project
Launched our second site (v2)

That pretty much leaves us up to present day, now I’m sure I left our minor daily things we do but the above are the most significant and beneficial to us.

Thanks for everyone’s support, we really appreciate it and are looking forward to the upcoming months, we will soon be registering for an LLC.

Labgfx creates a Guru.com profile!

In efforts to reach out and find more clients without relying on referrals and word of mouth, Labgfx has created a Guru.com profile! We are excited as Guru’s service will showcase our name to a broader audience, and now we’re able to bid on projects as well as be chosen for them!

Icon3201: South Beach, Miami

Labgfx has just completed a website for Icon3201, a South Beach, Miami condo with a magnificent view! The owner of Icon3201 is currently looking for prospective buyers! I’m sure a place like this will sell like hot-cakes. We wish him the best of luck with the sale and it was a pleasure!

Flickr + Labgfx = Joy

I’m sure you’ve all noticed the Flickr widget on the right of the page, we’re showing off some photos that we like to look at. They randomize whenever the page refreshes, very soon we will begin posting photos concerning Labgfx! So stay tuned for more new photos in the near future!

A push towards the right direction

So here we are, Labgfx jumping onto the social-media bandwagon. None the less, we are here and that is the important thing, right? Well, not really. While browsing around the internet on my lunch break, I came across a blog called Citizen Agency; they’re a “consultancy that specializes in developing community-centric strategies around product research, design, development, and marketing.” I think I read almost every post on their blog during my then extended-lunch-break, and I genuinely felt something real from their blogs.

They had categories describing their adventures during their startup, news about what the team was getting into, events, and just how they’re progressing in general. It made me think for awhile about how Labgfx should present itself to the community. I knew we wanted a blog, but I thought of it only as a way of delivering key-messages, announcements, and client success stories.

On the other hand I’ve also read the blog posts concerning Dreamhost billing almost all of their customers 7.5 million dollars in total. They wrote about this catastrophic error in their blog and most of their customers took great offense by how they loosely and jokingly they responded to a critical problem.

All in all we decided will be using a certain level professionalism that people expect and a genuine realness that people like to hear, we’ve decided how to present our blog.

So… shifting my view on what should be a blog for a company; Labgfx is going to graciously follow in Citizen Agency’s footsteps. I greatly appreciate the knowledge the people over there have indirectly given me. Kudos and best of luck to you guys!

Behind the curtains, Labgfx.com

If you haven’t read the ‘fancy version’ of Who We Are on our main website, then let me tell you. Labgfx is at least a decade old idea. Time was definitely not always on our side, between determining careers, moving to another state, getting our college degrees, and working in the professional work force, Labgfx just never appeared until now. Theo and I have known each other approximately since 1995. Between the both of us we’ve had more ideas than a person knows what to do with.

Moving forward to the present day, we find ourselves overwhelmed with ambition, & determination. Between planning, writing, designing and launching our company website, working with pre-existing clients, and developing new ideas so we can expand, we’ve got our hands full with work. We’re going to make the best of this blog, and really communicate to the people.

We look forward to all of you who follow us in our ventures, as Labgfx progresses we will keep everyone who’s interested in our success (and/or failure) up to date as best as we can.
